Today is National Buy a Musical Instrument Day. Music education is vital to student’s development in many ways. Music develops language and reasoning, improves memorization skills and pattern recognition, increases coordination and increases engagement and focus. It also builds confidence and provides sense of achievement, teaches discipline, teamwork and encourages creative thinking.
Jenny Mann and Tim Barbour, owners of the music inspired jewelry line Strüng and members of the band Blameshift , are currently in Washington, D.C. at the National Association of Music Merchants annual Music Education-Fly-In. They are advocating alongside music industry leaders so all children can have access to quality music education programs.
“We are so excited to be attending our first NAMM Fly-In. As musicians ourselves we
understand the importance of music education in schools and we want to pave the
way for the future rockstars. Strüng is all about giving back and this is a
cause we really are passionate about,” said Barbour.
NAMM is a non-for-profit association that is trying to strengthen the music products industry and promote the benefits and beauty of music. They believe every child should learn and grow with music. For more information about the NAMM Fly-In click here.
